Jon Eifert is Director of Parish Music at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville, MI. He has been active in church music at parishes in Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas, and Indiana prior to his return to his native Michigan. He has worked in full-time parish music and taught in a variety of educational settings, including elementary, secondary and university levels. He began his formal organ studies at Valparaiso University before graduating from Concordia-Chicago. He holds a MM in Choral Conducting from the University of Minnesota and a DMA in Organ Performance, where he studied with Gerre Hancock. In his current position, Jon is the principal organist and directs the adult choir and handbell ensemble. He also teaches general music in the school, in addition to directing the upper grade choir, band, and hand chimes. Jon is also in demand as a clinician for both choral and organ. He has been organist and choir director for LWML conventions at the local, regional, and national levels, and has presented workshops on service playing and hymnody throughout the country. He has also been honored to serve as organist for a number of Higher Things conferences, each of which involved playing ten different services in the span of four days. In his spare time, Jon also enjoys improvising at the organ bench. He has contributed original settings of several hymns to both the Hymn Prelude Library and the Piano Prelude Series, both published by Concordia.
